Books distribution to Children affected by Pandemic in Nepal

Based on a campaign idea from one of our members, GSTLNC Executive committee has decided to create a campaign to collect donations to buy and distribute books to children in Nepal. The goal of this campaign is to encourage children to read and learn while taking their time away from the screen (TV, phone, and game consoles) even if it is for momentarily.

The year 2020 was a difficult year for everyone. We do not believe that there is anyone who is not touched or affected by the pandemic in one way or the other. While most of us are hit by different types of crisis depending on where you are and what age group you fall into, children have been hit with multiple and often different types of crisis. Not only are children physically inactive since they cannot go out and play freely as they used to, but they are also mentally affected by what they have seen or heard and do not necessarily fully understand. Among others, education has been greatly hampered. Unable to go to school and get an education for most of the academic year, they have been robbed of their basic right to learn. While schools have been trying hard to fill the gap by offering online classes where they can, it has not been successful in most communities due to a lack of infrastructure, teacher training, and community, and government support. This is not because of anyone’s fault (whether it be children, parents, school, teachers, communities, or government) or short-sightedness but rather due to unusual circumstances that we all are going through.

Here is what we are trying to do and requesting you to join us on this journey if you wish to.

Buy a book or books and donate to anyone you wish to in the first two weeks of February 2021

We are targeting children of age group 6 to 14 years old. You can get involved in this campaign either by donating using the link available or personally buy appropriate books in Nepal for the age group that you are donating to and do it during the first two weeks of February 2021.

We will be collecting donations locally and forwarding this to the coordinating team in Nepal. Please use the button below, QR code or follow the link:
